We only took 3 dogs, 2 young ones and Marty and also one in joint ownership. We did not expect anything great today it was a nice day out. Marty still needs to put on weight after crying over the bitches in season at home !!! but it is coming back, he will be in top form again soon.
The judging seemed pretty fair and I would agree with most (not all) of the decisions. I thought the quality of the young dogs generally poor. The best mover was the bitch RBOB who the owner tells me is 3/4 Bombixmoren breeding she is by De Majodian The One out of Equinoxe Bohemia Alke. The Dog line up in Champion class (like our Open Class at Crufts) was the reverse of Crufts ! Simone Simek's BOB was a worthy winner he went better than he did at Crufts.
The ring was too small so it was hard for the dogs to move freely.
My one criticism, the judge kept bringing his wife in to the ring and also he kept referring to her and asking her opinion before he made his decisions. I thought there was only meant to be one judge ????? for each breed.
Many people asked us why we have not been to many shows in Ireland this year. There are several reasons we have a lot of committments at home and at shows in UK and Europe later this year, also we really have nothing to prove with Marty he has won all he can, but we also have Tanya's baby, my partner Guy has been ill with cancer and frankly after all the cheating and troubles of St Patrick's Day we like to show where there is no bias and where things are fair. I would say today the judging was quite fair if a little strange with the double judging.
I am sorry Irma and Inari could not make it to this show, I am sure he would have done well. They are now heading north to a show in Germany then on to shows in Finland and Scandinavia for the summer and then many more shows in Europe, and the World Show, also he may come to Ireland if there are good judges. We shall see and watch this space !!!.
