It was a short stop at home before crossing the Irish sea to Dublin for St Patrick's Day show. Buddy who won RBD at Crufts, had a rest, we were so thrilled that this young home bred dog did so well at Crufts, and that the judge made a special point of telling Tanya after the judging that she found her final decision between BD/RBD very close and it was maturity that won the day, and we were very happy with that. Many people asked why Marty did not come to Crufts or St Patrick's Day show, well the answer is very simple, in our country in Rare Breeds (of which Silkys are classified) it is generally the DONE THING for English exhibitors, not to show Crufts BOB winner two years running so you give others a chance, and to retire a dog after Crufts BOB win, also if you have had Top Dog 2 years running the same applies, that is only fair. It is the same in Bolognese too, and for that reason our Top Winning Bolognese Dog for 2008/2009 "Dougie", will only do a few shows this year. Watch out though Marty will be back soon having had a good rest !
