STCA 2009 National Specialty

Specialty is once agin a history. Well done again. We had excellent seminar about Urinary Stone Disease in Dogs by well respected and known Joe Bartges, DVM, PhD,DACVIM, DACVN, Professor Of Medicine and Nutrition, The Acree Endowed Chair of Small Animal Research, Staff Internist and Nutrionist, Department Of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, College Of Veterinary Medicine, The University Of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN.
Too bad that only hand full of breeders joyed in this informative and wonderful seminar, all those breeders that should be there was absent, I guess they had better things to do???

I enjoy to spend time with my dear friends, Linda Hart, Judy Harris, Carol Elliot and her sister Marcie, Liz Harrison,Rita Dawson, Linda Adams, Pam Laperruque, D J Martin-Wojtek & G David Wojtek Joy Simmons, Donna Wright just some to mention.

We had high hopes about judging this year, and what Judge said before judging was what everybody wanted to hear, but what he did was opposite in some classes and a Best Of Breed ring.

Jayden did very well with Linda, I couldn't be more proud of them. He looked absolutely stunning out there, and got a lots of nice comments from the other breeders. Jayden got cuts all the way to the end, by leaving behind the TOP Silky Terriers in US.
Overall a nice group of dogs at this specialty and most of the the dogs being shown would make any breeder proud.

to all winners, and thank you Kristiina for your news, it is always so good to hear how your Silky events go over there, such a shame though as you said that not more breeders attended the seminar, especially when there are talks on such important health issues, it really is a shame not to mention a worry.

I am so glad Jayden did well, I just love that boy, and to have received such wonderful compliments around the ring by those that watched really does speak a thousand words

Beautifull picture of CH. Bar-B's TawnyMist Tobias. But I must admit, that I like the Silky more with full tail. Perhaps it just becaurse I'm used too a full tail, but I think there is somethin missing when its short like on the picture.

I know its how it is in USA.

when I was "green" as a breeder I got
great advice from an other
breeder from France. At that time
we also docged tails in Finland.
She told me the tail need to be balance
with a dog. This mean that you
had to look the neck of the dog. If long
neck then the tail must be longer ,
than if the neck is shorter.
If Tobias was mine, I would like that
they had leave it more longer than it is now.
He hes nice long neck and I think if he had
long tail he look more balance than now
when the tail is too short on my eys.
BUT we all think different as you all know.
And long or short tail , Tobias look nice as
you said Anne. I am so proud of my Bombix Moren Jaspis
who is father to
Tobias. and proud of Barbara who
have Tobias and also younger brother of Tobias,
who is starting now his shows there in USA.

There was time when several breeders
though to stop breed
silkies because of the rule not docked tails
anymore. but after
these years mostly of them have learn to like long tails.
Also the judges.
In Finland I got a litter 24.06.1996 I think it is last
silkyterrier litter in Finland who have docked tails.
1.7.1996 we got that law in Finland.
Today Bombix Moren The Spirit is 13 and looks great
with her short tail,
but I feel 2 years age Bombix Moren Par Noster look
also great with her long tail .

The tails must not be curly but like
Clynymona Inari and Tonta have.
And the tail is so nice.
Curly tails look not nice and do not belongs to Silky
